The end of NaNoWriMo 2016, and some good news….

Well, even though there are still just a little under 3 hours left in the day here in Iowa until December 1st, I am officially calling it a wrap on NaNoWriMo 2016.

The grand word count total?

217,442 words.

In these past couple days, I was gunning for an even 220,000 words, just for the heck of it.

But I didn’t get there.

But I was only approximately 2,558 words off that total.

But….I won!

If you think about it, I wrote the equivalent of four novels; the criteria for “winning” NaNoWriMo is to write 50,000 words or more. So, yeah.

And….I am still going to work on the story, from now until the time it is completed, whenever that may be.

I had a great time! There were several surprises in writing the story throughout this whole month, and there might be more to come.

And, if all goes well, I might – I say ‘might’ – post an excerpt here on the blog in the future.

That’s a big ‘might,’ seeing as how this is essentially still a very rough draft, one that no one will ever read.

But we’ll see.

*SIGH* So no more pulling any near-all-nighters. Most of the month of November, with the exception of the three-day road trip back to Iowa, I was awake until about 3:00 am every night/morning. I was THAT involved in the writing. (For the three-day road trip, I went to bed by 11 pm each night, seeing as how Dad usually got to sleep about three hours earlier than that.)

So there.

No, I truly believe that, if I can properly get this to where I want it to be, it could see the publication light of day. I truly believe that.

But there is a long way to go yet.

But I’ll keep working on it.

So. That’s the writing.

Just going to post the banner again….

tee hee. Sorry. I’m so proud!

And, just for the heck of it:

My official winner’s certificate. Yes, the first official ‘claim your win’ date was November 20, 2016, which is when I did it, so that’s why it’s the ‘win date’ that I put down.

In other news, I GOT A JOB!

Yeah. Thank goodness!

It’s another “temporary” job, and I say “temporary” in quotation marks, because this may actually turn out to be a temp-to-hire type position. It’s through a local temp agency, true, and I was told the assignment only runs through April 2017, but I was also told that it could be extended.

So. I’ve got a job now!

I start Monday (December 5th). It is a full-time position, so I’ll be working 8:30 to 5, I believe.

I’ll find out more about it all tomorrow, when I meet with the recruiter downtown. And I’ll let you know! But just know that I am, once again, gainfully employed!

That’s all for the time being.

I’ll try to do better next post.
