Well, after a whirlwind three-day road trip….
I am back home in Iowa.
Dad and I had a great trip. We listened to music and talked and laughed and dissed the terrible drivers.
One of the better music moments came while driving through Wyoming. We were in the mountains, and Squeeze’s “Hourglass” came on Dad’s MP3 player on random shuffle. And we know all the words to that song, so we were singing along.
Surreal, let me tell you.
And also in Wyoming, there was a town called Rock Springs. But Dad and I called it “Rock Ridge.” That’s a “Blazing Saddles” reference, in case you weren’t aware. It was so much flippin’ fun!
So, Saturday night we stayed overnight in Cheyenne. Last night, we stayed overnight in West Des Moines. And then this morning, about 10:40, we got here to the family’s house in Iowa.
So. Yeah. Great time.
I also had my car charger for my laptop, and I was writing away.
And guess what?
Well, first of all, I’ve officially won NaNoWriMo for 2016.
So, that’s that.
But….I’m officially over 200,000 words.
Approximately 207,619 words as of this very moment.
And still counting.
Because there are still nine days left in the month of November.
There’s still a lot to think about, in terms of specific developments regarding the future.
Plus, when Mom got home from work tonight, I got some more bad news regarding one particular family member. Still not going to go into specifics here on the blog yet, but you might be hearing about it sooner rather than later.
Now I’m back in Iowa. I am on the job hunt. I am still writing.
And it’s Thanksgiving this week.
That’s it for right now.
I’ll try to do better next post.
