Well, tomorrow is the Big Day. I leave Idaho to return to Iowa.
According to my dad, if we can make it as far as Cheyenne, Wyoming tomorrow….we could make it to my family’s house in Iowa by Sunday night.
But I told him, and he agreed, not to push it. I’m anticipating we’ll be spending two nights in hotels, and getting to Iowa by Monday, like we’d planned.
My packing is all done.
Now we’ve just got to make the trip.
*SIGH* But it’s going to be a good trip. Long but good.
Still job hunting in Iowa. Have applied for several places, but haven’t heard back from them yet. Still looking.
And, of course, NaNoWriMo is ongoing.
I said I wanted to hit 200,000 words by the end of the month.
Currently, I’m almost at 186,000 words. And counting.
Yeah, I’ll blow past 200,000 words by month’s end, no problem.
But I will continue to write after NaNoWriMo ends.
Oh, and remember when I posted the ‘soundtrack’ to my story, and I had said if there were any changes or additions to it, that I would let you know?
First of all, click this link for the original post, for ready reference.
I have added four songs to the mix:
~ Two Shannon Curfman songs: “I Don’t Make Promises (I Can’t Break)” and her cover version of The Band’s “The Weight.” (So you’re going to get both the original and a cover version of “The Weight” in the story. Lucky you.)
~ Dot Allison’s song “Colour Me.” Which sort of surprised me. I didn’t intend for that to happen – it was merely going to be implied – but the moment changed and became right to actually include the song. So you’re actually going to hear it in the story. And, boy, is it going to be something. And I can tell you right now – that is an understatement.
~ And, even though I know this song borders on cliché nowadays, and has been played to death, I could not possibly not include “Let It Go” from the movie “Frozen.” Yes, it’s going to be important. And that moment is really going to be something if I do it right.
So. That’s that.
There is also going to be a “Red vs. Blue” moment in the story. tee hee. Gonna be hysterical! Thank you, Gina, Erin, and Bridget!
So the story is really going.
Once again, it is just a rough draft that no one will ever read. I’m just getting the words, the characters, the scenarios down and out of my head. I’ll work on it more extensively later. Right now, I’m just getting it out and down.
So. That’s that. For now.
Oh, and I got a car charger for my laptop, so that way, on the three-day trip home to Iowa, I can still be writing in the car. tee hee.
200,000 words, here I come!
The next time I post, I will be back in Iowa.
I’ll try to do better next post.
