Tune(s) for Tuesday – moods past and present

Fooled you, didn’t I? Did you think it’d be my favorite Christmas song today? Relax – there are three more days ’til Christmas. Just wait for it.

This first Tune for Tuesday is from the 2000 movie “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” which starred Jim Carrey and little Taylor Momsen. Most people recognize Momsen nowadays from the TV show “Gossip Girl” and her rockin’ work with her band The Pretty Reckless. But way back when, she played Cindy Lou Who, who was in a Christmas despair. I can relate to her words – that was me for several years, actually. There’s a pop version out there that Faith Hill sings, but it’s nowhere near as beautiful as this, the original occurrence in the film. This is “Where Are You Christmas?” (This video is sort of quiet, so you might want to temporarily turn up your speakers.)

You’ll be happy to know I’ve found my Christmas spirit after all. So I’m celebrating this year. And what better way to celebrate than with a great song? My dad loves this song, so much so that he plays it every year at Christmas on his radio show. (And this video is at normal volume, just so you know.)

This is Wendy & Lisa and Seal, with a song featured in the 1992 movie “Toys” called “The Closing of the Year.”

Happy listening!
