In an attempt to keep my mind off the upcoming womens’ conference I agreed to go to tomorrow, here’s a questionnaire about writing habits. Well, not really. But it is about writing.
I found this via Jodie Llewellyn’s blog.
1. TYPED OR HANDWRITTEN?
~ It depends. I like both. I like handwriting for the slowness, thoughtfulness, and the sheer connection of hand to pencil to words. I like typing when I’m on a roll and am thinking faster than I can handwrite.
2. CURSIVE OR PRINTED?
~ Printed. I don’t use much cursive anymore, mostly for signatures only. It’s not that my cursive is unreadable. I just prefer to print.
3. SHOW US YOUR FAVORITE PEN.
~ I don’t use pen to write. I use pencils. And my favorite pencil? I got it via NaNoWriMo’s store:
4. WHERE DO YOU LIKE TO WRITE?
~ In my room, most of the time. I can’t write at work, because I’m usually busy and over lunch hour I usually read. Actually, I can write just about anywhere. I’ve even written on the bus before.
5. WHO ARE YOUR FIVE FAVORITE AUTHORS IN TERMS OF AUTHORIAL STYLE?
~ Sylvia Plath, Sarah Vowell, Natalie Goldberg, Edith Wharton, and Gillian Flynn. All of them – I wish I could write like they do.
6. WHAT ARE YOUR THREE FAVORITE BOOKS ON WRITING?
~ Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott, Writing Down the Bones by Natalie Goldberg, and The Right to Write by Julia Cameron. The next book I will read about writing will be Stephen King’s book On Writing. I really want to read that.
7. HAVE YOU EVER COMPETED IN NANOWRIMO?
~ Yes. I’ve been part of NaNoWriMo since 2006. My screen name there is angelgal1598, if you want to become writing buddies.
8. HAVE YOU EVER WON NANOWRIMO?
~ Yes. Twice – once in 2008 with “Chalk Letters” and once in 2012 with an untitled story.
9. HAVE YOU EVER HAD ANYTHING PUBLISHED?
~ Yes, on several occasions back in junior high and high school. In junior high, I placed second in a schoolwide poetry contest, and my poem was published in the local paper. In my senior year of high school, I had four pieces published in our school’s literary magazine.
10. WHAT PROJECTS ARE YOU WORKING ON NOW?
~ I’m always trying to put something together, be it short stories or poems or even a novel. I’m currently at work on “Cherchez La Femme” (still), and I’m also putting together a book for family.
11. WHAT IS YOUR SOUNDTRACK TO WRITING?
~ It depends on what I’m writing, but usually it’s a mix of popular songs and instrumental. Vague, I know, but there it is.
12. DO YOU HAVE A WRITING PUMP-UP SONG?
~ No. Music in general will pump me up. Whatever I have in my novel soundtrack is good enough to get me going.
