Less-than-perfect timing

Experienced the first tornado warning of the season this afternoon.

When the sky turned almost pitch black at one point (wish I’d had my camera!), I knew it was only a matter of time before the sirens would go off. And, sure enough, about 2:45, they sounded throughout the county.

I was downstairs in records at the time, and so already downstairs in a basement, so I was safe, and Sara, Elvie, and I kept on working right through the tornado warning.

But I was thinking to myself, “Damn, if only this had happened about an hour, hour and a half later. I’d have been on my way home, or already home and able to keep an eye on the pets.”

Oh well. Over and done with.

But we’re in for more severe storms tomorrow.

Summer in Iowa. Gotta love it.
