First, another little disclaimer. Despite a certain movie quote that comes to mind, I cannot always tell instantly about people. But I like to think I’m a good judge of character.
So anyone is welcome.
That’s all. Entirely cryptic, I know, but just so you know.
Today’s Tune for Tuesday actually almost wasn’t going to happen. It’s raining again here in IA (said rain and wind actually woke me up a couple times during the night), and this particular song is not conducive for a rainy day in my opinion.
But, you know, it’s a great song. So I got over the rain.
I honestly don’t remember how I found Keane. It wasn’t a case of I just bought the CD on a whim. I think it was a recommendation from a co-worker, actually – most likely Jenny from the cafe; she and I had similar tastes. So I went out and got the album, and loved it. I have yet to get “Strangeland,” and when I do, I’ll have all of Keane’s albums. They are amazing.
This particular song also comes with a dedication.
But I’m going to be vague as to who, exactly, it is for.
It could be for family. It could be for friends. It could be for someone I’ve never met. It could be for someone obvious. Or it could be for someone I’ve only mentioned in passing. Heck, it could be all of the above, just wrapped in one big blanket of feelings.
In short, it could be anybody. And, at one point or another, it really has been.
So feel free to make of that what you will.
But when I heard this song for the very first time, only one person came into my mind.
And so, I dedicate this song to that person.
And it pretty much speaks for itself.
From their 2004 album “Hopes and Fears,” this is Keane. The song is called “Somewhere Only We Know.”
